Throwing Clay

A few nights ago I spent a couple hours at the college watching Jordan Davison throwing clay. There’s no way I could sit there and not think of God as the potter. The clay was so malleable that every pressure of his hand could be seen on the clay. The slightest manipulation altered the shape, thickness, balance and final architecture. Driving home I couldn’t help but worship God. Over the years He has been a patience potter. I see His hands shaping me through good and difficult times and I recognize the pressure He has applied. He’s used people, jerks and joys, to mold me and remove unwanted clay. As I take shape I must thank my God.
You hold me as this world spins and You are creating me. Spirit, keep me malleable and ready for the shaping hand. Tune my ears to Your still voice and I will stand firm in the fires, strengthened by the fires. In wonder…
